On Wednesday, January 6, an armed mob of domestic terrorists breached the grounds of the U.S. Capitol building, resulting in a direct attack on our democracy, as well as death and destruction.
The domestic terrorists who attacked the U.S. Capitol – and those who enabled them – must be held accountable.
We believe that President Donald Trump should be removed from office immediately – either by invoking the 25th Amendment or through impeachment – for inciting this attack against the United States Capitol. We believe that all leaders – including Senator Rafael “Ted” Cruz, Senator Joshua “Josh” Hawley, and Lieutenant Governor Ken Paxton – who enabled this attack should resign or be removed from office immediately.
This attack demonstrated the double standard that exists for people of color in the United States regarding law enforcement response and the people’s constitutional right to peacefully assemble. Hundreds of Black men, women, and children have been killed for far less, within seconds, by law enforcement. The President, the domestic terrorists, and those who enabled them betrayed our country, and betrayed the will of the people.
“Words matter. To be silent is to be complicit, and there are not two sides to this situation,” stated Amanda Lee Keammerer, Chief Executive Officer of Javilud LLC. “I call upon my colleagues and fellow executives to take a stand against domestic terrorism, and join me in calling for President Trump’s removal. Join me in calling for the resignation of any and all elected officials who incited this attack upon our country. Our employees, our mentees, our loved ones and our community members need to see a business community that accepts the results of the 2020 election. Our community needs to see business leaders who stand up for our democracy instead of going back to business as usual. Enough is enough. President-elect Biden will be inaugurated, and a peaceful transition of power must prevail.”
